…as group intensifies its international forays
THE Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has become the latest country in the region to benefit from Boltgas’ forays into the sub-region and beyond after Gecamines enlisted its services to implement the design, installation and commissioning of its copper leach plant in Likasi in the province of Katanga.
Gécamines is a mining company headquartered in Lubumbashi, in the Katanga region of the DRC. It is a state-controlled corporation founded in 1966 and a successor to the Union Minière du Haut-Katanga.
Boltgas was roped in by Gecamines for a project at its Shituru hydrometallurgical complex in the City of Likasi, where the Zimbabwean engineering company is expected to complete the mammoth task within a space of six months.
Once the project has been implemented, the copper leach plant will have a capacity to process 100 tonnes per hour.
Gecamines is engaged in the exploration, research, exploitation and production of mineral deposits including copper and cobalt.
One of the largest mining companies in Africa and the biggest in the DRC, Gécamines sits on the world’s greatest deposit of cobalt and has some of the world’s largest deposits of copper.
Copper mines in which Gécamines has a major interest in include, but are not limited to, Kambove, Kipushi, Kamfundwa and Kolwezi.
Gecamines turned to Boltgas after being impressed by the company’s well-documented expertise in offering total engineering services and solutions.
Because Boltgas is continuously scouting for potential market opportunities within the natural resources sector in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, the latest opportunity has added yet another feather to our cap.
From day one, Boltgas’ intention was never to serve just Zimbabwe and South Africa but the entire sub-region. Since our inception 15 years ago, we have thus stayed true to our identity as an African company with Zimbabwean roots.
In line with the aforementioned mission, we have also established ourselves in Madagascar, Mozambique, Botswana and Zambia.
Going forward, Boltgas will be seeking to extend its footprint into the rest of the African continent through exploring merger, acquisition, divestiture and partnership opportunities.
We have indeed become, not surprisingly, the company of choice for mines in Zimbabwe and in remote centres of Africa, through offering a variety of products and services in addition to doing cross border procurement and logistics for many countries in southern Africa.
Since our inception in 2005, we have been providing engineering solutions and offering full turnkey solutions and aftermarket support to the mining, power generation, manufacturing, transport, agro-processing and construction industries.
We also provide comprehensive process and mechanical solutions to any design, fabrication and/or supply of equipment.
